  1. Can you do the job?
  2. Do we like you?
  3. Do we think you're going to fit in around here?

That's what it comes right down to.

So how are you going to make sure the answer to each is "yes?"

Know the deliverables of the job, examine the players, study the culture of the organization.

That alone will get you well ahead of the bozos who just "show up" and start blabbing on and on with no strategy or forethought.
